How to Sanitize Your Homebrewing Equipment
Everything that comes into contact with your beer after it cools down from the boil needs to be sanitized. This is because we don't want our carefully selected brewers yeast to have to compete against the wild yeast and bacteria that live in the air and on surfaces all around us. Nothing harmful can live in beer, but wild yeast and bacteria can cause unwanted flavors and occasionally a never ending fermentation. Sanitation is different from sterilizing, we're not looking for hospital clean. The idea is to just give your brewers yeast a clear field to work on and do its magic.
